Unpredictable twists in story... evoking curiosit
Smooth flow in story line throughout, could finish easily coz of eagerness... Wonderful narrative and narration.

Liked it
Till now I had read only mythology and history-based work of Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni. This was different. One can call it a masala fiction which is a sweeping, suspenseful, atmospheric coming-of-age novel about a young woman who leaves India for America on a search that will transform her life. Of course in the end all has to end well, but the journey to this end is surely gripping. I also enjoyed the typical Bengali atmosphere well created in the novel and the narrator too has an accent in-line with the panorama (though I am not sure if she too is a Bengali for her surname "Dube" doesn't reflect that. Liked it.

Fast paced story
pros: interesting characters, fast paced story, clever plot lines.
cons: the narration was extremely monotonous and words were constantly being mispronounced. There was no voice inflection when characters changed or new scenes were introduced. Took away from the overall enjoyment of the book!

I feel that their should have some pauses when story shifts from one person to another. Better would be a piece of music separate for each one indicating the specific one.

Terrible Narration
I have listened to some amazing audibles including Chitra Banerjee's Queen of dreams, forest of enchantments etc., but Oleander Girl is not one of them. Infact it was the worst narration I have ever heard. Sincerely request audible to test drive their narrators before giving them a project especially works of reputed authors. It was a waste of my credit.
