Adam Mock was born in Queens, New York in 1979. He spent his childhood learning about cartooning and animation through children’s books, comic strips and the animated shorts of Warner Brothers and Disney. Growing up he wanted to be an animator, but soon found another passion in filmmaking during high school and college. After graduating film school, he worked on independent features around NYC where he eventually found his love for the written word in several forms including screenwriting, film critique, novels and finally children’s literature. With his first book, What Does My Dog Jack Do At Night?, Adam brings to life the sweet story of a little boy who wonders what wacky adventures his dog might get into when everyone goes to bed. Gaining inspiration from the creatives he grew up on including Charles Schulz, Shel Silverstein, Gary Larson, Dr. Seuss and Fred Gwynne, he began honing his skills as a children’s author by tapping into the fantastical tales which shaped him as a kid. Finding imagination and laughter to be the best ways to sow the seeds of reading in young people, he often tells tales about the importance of being creative, the beauty of daydreaming and the wonders of make believe. Believing there is a tale to tell to any age, Adam Mock also writes stories for adults and teens through a multitude of genres including horror, fantasy and comedy in hopes of reaching a wide ranging audience who can grow with his work.
