Andrew Brel was born in 1960 in Johannesburg to Greek parents growing up in the Apartheid years of South Africa's racist religious right before emigrating to England aged 24. For the next 29 years Andrew lived and worked in London and surrounds. Andrew is an auto-didact author and musician referencing life experience in both. His first book 'The Emergency Bouzouki Player' is a first-person account of the South African War of Apartheid, the Angolan Border War. An occasionally humorous, historically fascinating account of a liberal anti-war atheist's two-year forced conscription in South Africa's White Christian Army. Brel's second book is a novel published in 2015. A political thriller. 'One Day in Paris' recalls one year in the life of Dan Blake, a former elite soldier who is paid an enormous sum to mastermind an attack on Paris. The story explores the pathology of those profiteers working the Armaments Industry underpinning the Global economy. The Three Rs. The racist religious right and other short stories was published in 2020. A compendium of 17 short stories about racist right-wing religious behaviors. A cheerful trawl through the age old debate between the value of critical thought in advancing liberal science and the harmful consequences of religious conservatism. Dealing with the widely-reported lack of reporting by outdated legislation covering up corruption in Britain's secret family-court service. He has several short stories published. Andrew has worked in music composition and production since first being paid to perform at age 15. Beginning in 2001 Andrew has written and produced many albums of healing 'meditation and wellness' music available worldwide on all streamed music services like Spotify, Apple, Amazon and YouTube.
