One dreary October a few years ago, I came across a mangled legal pad in a box of other things I owned. It was a hand written manuscript, unfinished, from a number of years earlier. I had attempted National Novel Writing Month and failed spectacularly. But as I sat there, reading the old story, something occurred to me: it wasn't all that bad. Now, this isn't me telling you that I was a born writer, but I definitely had something there. It was a decent idea that had relatable characters - realistic characters, I thought. But it certainly needed work. I considered, it being October, to prep it and myself for November. Far be it from me to accept such a simple challenge, I decided to do something completely fresh, and unplotted for NaNoWriMo... so I did. Empty Hallways came out that following year, my first successful NaNoWriMo. And I have continued the tradition since, successfully completing a number of manuscripts via NaNoWriMo and launching them as quickly as I, my editor, and my cover artist can get our ducks in a row. So far, I have participated in 3 anthologies; published two novels: Empty Hallways - a horror novel about a man whose grief calls forth a unsettled spirit from the past, and House of Thirteen - the first installment in a series about immortals who are slowly discovering they are not the only anomaly hiding in the mortal world;and most recently, I have launched a 12-part serial: At Calendar's End, which explores the beings that keep time moving forward, and the horror that awaits them when an equally ancient being decides to hunt them down one by one. On the docket, I have plans for another House of Thirteen installment, my own anthology of short stories, a psychological thriller, and a horror novel based on that old, earlier-mentioned manuscript: Threshold. At some point, I would also like to write a children's book.
