Author Ann Cueva, owner and president of Custom Organizing Inc., is a Certified Productive Environment Specialist (CPES), life coach, facilitator, speaker, and 28-year veteran of all things “organization.” She has appeared on NBC, CTN, Christian Television Network, Bay News 9, WTAN Radio, and numerous other media outlets, sharing tips and solutions to simplify living. Cueva consults nationwide and is a Golden Circle Member of the National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals (NAPO). She is also a consultant for International Professional Relations, assisting foreign clients moving to the United States to settle in the Tampa Bay area of Florida, where she resides. Her first book, Grief Without Chaos, was written to help people tackle and prepare their wills in the easiest and least overwhelming way possible. Cueva knows of that which she writes. In the summer of 2003, she experienced the unthinkable. While away on a trip with her mother and sister, she received a call from her husband telling her to come home immediately, that her 17-year-old son, David, had suffered a heart attack. As her son slipped away from causes unknown that night in the emergency room, an ER worker handed Cueva a packet of information designed to help make the funeral arrangements. As a career professional organizer, Cueva found that she already had the necessary paperwork together in order to make her son’s arrangements. Yet, she shuddered to think about the chaos her family would’ve experienced in the midst of their overwhelming grief had she not. Fast-forward eleven years, and Cueva lost both her mother and her mother-in-law in rapid succession. Her mother had lung cancer, and the family had time to prepare, ask questions, and get documents in order. But her mother-in-law died unexpectedly from a fall. The family knew she had a will, but no one knew where it was. And so, still grieving the loss of Cueva’s mother, chaos ensued until—thousands of dollars in attorney’s fees later—the family found the documents they needed. Cueva learned from these experiences just how critical it is to teach people to use the organizational skills she teaches them in life to put their affairs in order for death, whether it comes from the inevitable or the accidental. Because eventually, one or the other will come to pass for all of us and our families. And it is a time that, with the help of Cueva’s special book, we can make certain we experience grief without chaos. Grief Without Chaos is Cueva’s ultimate gift to any reader looking to get on with the business of living, having peace of mind that all will be less chaotic and devastating for our loved ones when God calls us home.
