The spark for writing ignited for April while working on the set of Christopher Guest’s Thank You for Your Consideration. With long hours to fill in a dusty studio, she opened a laptop and began putting to paper the imaginative ideas and bizarre dreams that had been swirling in their mind. That first novel marked the beginning of a creative journey into the world of storytelling.
Growing up in San Diego, April first envisioned Ithiria—a realm where elementals guard the natural balance, and evil often arises from noble intentions. During their time studying theatre in college, the nuances of this world began to take shape, becoming a rich tapestry of interconnected stories that reflect the complexities of our own. Inspired by the works of Grimm, Shelley, and classic folklore, she wove timeless themes into new tales. After winning Fox’s reality TV show The Search for the Next Elvira and discovering the humor of Christopher Moore, their characters took on a sharper wit and comedic flair, adding levity to the fantastical landscapes of Ithiria.
The stories of Ithiria are alive with adventure: royals uncovering ancient magic, children venturing into shadowy forests to confront dark creatures, vampires discovering hidden truths about their origins, and unlikely heroes rising from obscurity. These narratives intertwine, building a layered history that mirrors the complexity of the real world. For her Ithiria is more than a fictional place—it is a living, breathing realm where every story feeds into the next.
A self-proclaimed nerd, April is passionate about comic books, movies, myths, fairy tales, and the supernatural. This enthusiasm informs their writing, creating a unique blend of genres and influences. Years of attending Masquerade Balls, Steampunk events, and Comic Conventions have inspired fantastical elements in their work, while time spent on sets like Young Sheldon and Star Trek has sparked new ideas for characters and settings.
Since the age of 16, she has been a proud volunteer at San Diego Comic-Con International and is now a regular presence in the Autograph Area, sharing stories and connecting with fans.
