I am a seventy-six year old retired lawyer who has had too many other careers to be entirely respectable. I have been, in order of occurrence, a camp counsellor, sleeping car porter, school janitor, computer assembler, data entry clerk, chimney sweep, small business operator, private investigator, and now small businessman again operating a medical legal assessment bureau. I became interested in science fiction in my early teens, and have loved it ever since, especially hard science fiction that attempts to use real science as a basis for its speculation. The classics like Asimov and Heinlein, and so many others like them, were my early favorites. The characters in my stories will be suspiciously similar in character to those of my own circle, and I cannot do anything but apologize for my lack of imagination imposing that repetition on my readers. Who would you feed on but the people you know best? I have tried to tell credible stories that take no short cuts with the science as I understand it. When I am perceived to be wrong in that, I welcome correction, but you are stuck with the characters. Once they reach the light of day in fiction, they are on their own. Nothing we can do will stop them.
