Beth Kaplan's latest memoir, Midlife Solo: Writing through chaos to find my place in the world, was reviewed as "An extraordinary life, written with tremendous heart, insight and humour." She's the author of scores of essays in newspapers, magazines, and on CBC Radio, and of four other books: Finding the Jewish Shakespeare, a biography of her great-grandfather, which Oscar-winner Tony Kushner called “a witty, shrewd and elegant book which tells a story of vital importance”; All My Loving, a memoir of the sixties; True to Life, a succinct guide to personal narrative which is the textbook for her courses; and Loose Woman: My Odyssey from lost to found, finalist for the Whistler Independent Book Award. Beth has an MFA in Creative Writing and has taught memoir writing at two Toronto universities for thirty years. In 2012 she won the coveted Excellence in Teaching award at U of T. Throughout her twenties, she worked as a professional actress.
