Bonnie Johnston holds degrees from both Miami University and University of Cincinnati and has spent decades researching history and genealogy. Her first historical novel THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN describes the tragic life of her ancestor Anna Margaretha Mallow who survived the Fort Seybert massacre in 1758 where she and five of her children were taken captive or killed by the War Chief Killbuck. Bonnie has also written THE DARK SIDE OF THE RIVER and THE DARK SIDE OF THE TRAIL, historical novels following the footsteps of those who encountered Indian raids, losses and war on the frontier of America.
A collection of short stories, TALES OF THE FRONTIER, describes the life of the War Chief Killbuck and those whose lives he touched during the tumultuous French and Indian War and the founding of America.
Bonnie lives with her husband Frank Miller in Mason, OH and is retired from the University of Cincinnati where when taught English and was the former Director of the Writing Lab. Blends of fact and fiction, her novels take readers back into American history and life in the eighteenth century.
