Burnaby Hawkes (1984–) is a Canadian author born in Nag Hammadi, Egypt. He earned a medical degree from Assiut University before shifting to global affairs, completing a master’s degree at the American University in Cairo, with part of his studies in international security and terrorism at the Monterey Institute of International Studies in California. He moved to Canada in 2014 and later trained as an emergency nurse. His fiction, spanning espionage, historical, and speculative genres, has appeared in The Raven Chronicles and Heater. His debut novel, The Haze, an espionage thriller with fantasy elements, received critical acclaim from Publishers Weekly and Kirkus Reviews. He splits his time between writing fiction and working in an emergency department as a nurse.
