C. M. Brawner was born and raised in East Texas. He graduated from Bullard High School then enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After subsequent tours of duty at various training commands and as a Missile Technician on a ballistic missile submarine, at a strategic weapons facility, and in the auxiliary security force his superior performance earned him a selection to the Seaman to Admiral-21st Century Commissioning Program. Graduating from The University of Oklahoma with a bachelor's degree in mathematics, minoring in Native American Studies, his academic performance granted him an invitation for membership in the Phi Beta Kappa National Honor Society. Commissioned as a Surface Warfare Officer, C. M. Brawner served as an engineer on a destroyer, in operations on an aircraft carrier, and as a scholarship candidate guidance officer. With letters of recommendation from Admirals in the intelligence community, he was selected for redesignation to Information Warfare Officer and served as an operations department head for a large command. After retiring from the U.S. Navy, he became a Special Agent for the National Background Investigations Bureau where he served for two years before accepting a civilian appointment as an Intelligence Specialist with the Department of the Navy, and he was quickly promoted to Supervisory Intelligence Specialist. After serving his country as a government civilian for eight years, C. M. Brawner resigned from government service to pursue his own endeavors.
