C.L. (Cyndi) Pauwels brings to her crime fiction nearly 20 years’ experience working in the criminal justice field. Her police procedural novels Forty & Out (2014) and its sequel Burned Bridges (2017) and prequel Unwelcome Ties (2022) are set in the Toledo (Ohio)-area communities she called home until 2004. Cyndi’s publishing credits also include freelance news stories, the award-winning non-fiction Historic Warren County: An Illustrated History (2010), several anthologized essays, and numerous short stories. In addition to writing, Cyndi’s portfolio career includes editing, teaching creative writing as a college adjunct. She also served as Assistant Director for the Antioch Writers’ Workshop for six years. She lives in Yellow Springs, Ohio, with her husband of forty-three years and ten chickens.
