Charisse Howard is a lifelong Jane Austen fan with ancestors on both sides of the Atlantic and family on both sides of the Mason-Dixon Line. She loves exploring (in books and in person) what was going on during the Regency period, not just in England but America and around the world. In her other identity, Charisse is an author known for her academic work. Having originally planned to be a cowgirl and circus rider, Charisse began pestering her parents at age three to buy her a horse. She started riding at eight, and writing around the same time. By the time she actually got a horse, at 15, she had won a Junior Scholastic writing award and her career ambitions had shifted. Charisse's first book, "Dark Horseman," is a full-length historical novel of "sweet" romantic suspense which combines her love of horses with her deep affection for the Blue Ridge Mountains and Monticello region of Virginia. Her alphabetical "Regency Rakes & Rebels" series of short spicy romances starts in the English countryside with "Lady Annabelle's Abduction," and follows adventurous Britons to the far corners of the Empire in "Lady Barbara & the Buccaneer," "Lady Caroline, the Corsair's Captive," and beyond. She's thrilled to have British-American actress Stevie Zimmerman as the riveting narrator of her "Regency Rakes & Rebels" audiobooks! At 2-4 hours, they're an ideal length for commuting, driving, household chores, or just relaxing.
