Chuck Miceli is a multi-genre author who emphasizes his creative style rather than any single category of writing. In 2020, he published his literary novel, "Wounded Angels," featuring a female lead protagonist narrating her own story in the first person. In 2018, Seven Angels Theater in Waterbury CT produced a dramatic reading of his play based upon the same story. Over 150 people attended the premier and gave the production a standing ovation.
In 2012, Miceli published his acclaimed paranormal thriller, "Amanda's Room." The novel combines elements of a murder mystery and science fiction story in a single volume. He published the abridged "Amanda’s Room Travel Edition" in 2015. That same year, his poem, "Miner’s Lament," took third place in the worldwide Writer’s Digest competition. In 2016, he published the fourth edition of "Amanda's Room."
In 1979, the U.S. Department of Justice published Miceli’s co-authored textbook, "Fire Behind Bars," as the first book in the U.S. to deal with deadly fires in secure institutions. That put him on the national stage as a speaker and consultant. During his thirty-plus year career in government, he wrote and delivered multiple training courses to thousands of individuals nationwide.
Chuck Miceli was born the son of a Pittston Pennsylvania coal miner. His future book, "Black Hell Drowning," is a multi-generation historical novel about life and death in the anthracite coal mines. Miceli grew up one of eleven children in the East New York section of Brooklyn New York. He has served as Training Officer in a maximum-security prison, Chief of Curriculum at the Connecticut Justice Academy, Coordinator for the National Institute of Corrections Resource Center, consultant to multiple criminal justice organizations, and as a Staff Sergeant in the Marine Corps Reserves. He lives with his wife, Judy, in suburban Connecticut.
