Dale A. Garratt taught English at the secondary and university levels in California, Connecticut and his home state of New Mexico. While teaching in South Korea for eight years, he travelled in the People’s Republic of China and Japan as well as throughout South Korea. The closest he has gotten to North Korea is standing on the North Korean side of the UN Quonset hut that straddles the 38th parallel in the Joint Security Area of Panmunjom.
