Daniel E. Muller, Author/Consultant and Business Executive
Daniel was born in Brewster, Ohio, and grew up in a blue-collar family. He was the first in his family to attend college. After 35 years invested in a successful white-collar career where he held several executive positions for a Fortune 500 company, he retired in 2014 and started his own consulting company.
As an author, Daniel has written and published two books. In 2019, he published 'CHANGING COLLARS', a book focused upon sharing hundreds of valuable lessons with those pursuing successful white-collar professional careers, with a focus upon those who may have grown up in blue-collar families. In 2023, he published 'SEX, DRUGS, ROCK and WAR: The Boomer Generation.' This book recounts the lives of fourteen 'everyday' Baby Boomers, and explores the generations and the generational divide, through examining the opinions and values of these Boomers. The life stories are diverse and thought-provoking, and Daniel analyzes a variety of hot topics in the world today with respect to each of the generations, from the Boomer generation all the way through Generation Z.
In his career, Daniel held positions including programmer, systems analyst, database administrator, director, president of a large division, and senior vice-president of strategy and Chief Information Officer, among others. Many of the lessons articulated in his first book were derived from his 35-year career. Topics in the book vary from corporate culture, to continuous learning, to career management, to supervisor relationships, and many others.
Daniel is active in speaking as a podcast guest, as well as to students, corporations, clubs and individuals about his books and their core messages. He earned BBA and MBA degrees from Kent State University, graduating Summa Cum Laude in both. He is president and CEO of his consulting company, DEM Consulting. He was named CIO of the Year in 2012 and was elected to his high school Hall of Honor in 2016, as well as the Stark County Amateur Golf Hall of Fame in 2024. Daniel is married with two children and five grandchildren, and is an avid golfer, winning ten club championships during his lifetime.
