Darren Hogarth is a gifted story teller, who specializes in fiction based on reality. His first novel, “Whatever Sticks Most”, is a love story, which addresses the struggle to maintain balance in our life, with respect to health, work and relationships. Darren’s expertise in lower back pain and sciatica, are woven into the story. While enduring his personal long road to recovery, without surgery, he studied the very common affliction and the conflicting information available to heal. After extensive research and consultations with several specialists, Darren condensed the knowledge of healing in this story. It takes readers on an unforgettable journey in the small town of Mammee Bay, Jamaica. Darren’s second novel, “Kingston Rock(s)”, addresses the social and political issues that have plagued Jamaica, to date. The story flanks the evolution of reggae music from the early days of ska, to rocksteady, to the ever growing and popular dancehall music. A true to life history, starting in 1972, is used to detail key events in Jamaica. With a raw, unbridled delivery, it addresses a common tendency, to falsely judge the less fortunate, who struggle daily for a way out. Darren is currently writing his third novel, geared toward women. It addresses the struggles of chauvinism and the marginalization that women face, when trying to rise to the top of their careers. This third novel is set in Canada, where Darren currently lives.
