David Philips was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1953 and emigrated to Perth, West Australia with his wife, Adele, in 2009. He has two adult children who still live in Scotland. He has had several careers, including being the anonymous human half of a comedy double-act with an irreverent, mischievous, keyboard-playing robot called Mr. Hairy, and it was always a matter of some chagrin that the robot continually stole all his best lines and got more laughs than he did. In his spare time, David plays folk harmonica, swears at the T.V., and reads. His favourite authors are Scottish crime fiction writers Ian Rankin and Craig Robertson. He is also a fan of the works of Robert Harris and the late author Robert Ludlum, from which he draws inspiration for his own books.
As well as authoring conspiracy novels, David also writes short horror fiction and is an occasional contributor to Schlock Horror, an on-line sci-fi and fantasy magazine. His anthology of thirteen short tales of mystery and the macabre, entitled The Finest Thread, is available online. He has also written a comedy novella based in his home city of Glasgow, and set in 1972, called The McBrides, which is also available on the web.
David's first novel, The Judas Conspiracy, which was released in September 2022, is a semi-autobiographical account of the JFK assassination, inspired by his experiences as an adolescent, and contains his unique insight into this tragic event. His second book, The Errol Flynn Conspiracy, which became a #1 Amazon best seller for historical fiction, was published by Black Rose Writing in March 2023. The Duke of Windsor Conspiracy, also published by Black Rose Writing, is his third tale based on actual events and personalities, and was released in April 2024.
