David Yonke is an award-winning journalist and author whose work as the Religion Editor of The Toledo Blade led to his coverage of the Father Gerald Robinson case, including the murder trial and court appeals. He has won numerous awards for writing and editing, including the 2003 Ohio Associated Press Investigative Reporter of the Year award for coverage of the clerical sexual abuse scandal. Yonke has worked at The Tampa Tribune, Toledo Blade, and Gannett/USA TODAY Network and has taught journalism at the University of Toledo and Bowling Green State University. In 2012, he founded the nonsectarian, nonprofit religion news website, Toledo Faith & Values, as well as a freelance writing, editing and consulting business, Writeminded.media. Yonke retired at the end of 2023 to spend more time with family, to travel, to pursue his myriad hobbies, and to work part-time as a freelance writer and editor. A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., and a graduate of Duke University, he and his wife, Janet, reside in Perrysburg, Ohio. They have three grown daughters and eight amazing grandchildren. His updated and expanded version of "Sin, Shame & Secrets" is now available as a Kindle eBook, as well in an expanded and updated print edition. Yonke's second nonfiction book, "Lost Toledo," was published in 2015 by Arcadia/History Press. Follow me on X (formerly Twitter): Whirlpeace
