Donna Aust’s life as a successful corporate trainer, martial arts instructor, and passionate advocate for women's rights was simultaneously overwhelmed by fear, anxiety, perfectionism, insecurity, rebellion, and new-age teachings until she was radically changed and transformed by the truth of the Gospel over 25 years ago. While Donna was raised in a marginally “religious” home, she had not yet understood the extent of God’s mercy and grace. It was a defining moment when Donna’s black belt test years ago prompted a desire to understand that truth matters. When asked to describe "her truth" in the written portion of that test, Donna realized that truth is not a matter of relativity or opinion or “what works for you may not work for me,” but it exists and can be known. However, she wasn’t yet sure what that truth was until she met the love and grace of Jesus Christ. She gradually surrendered her old identity to her new identity in Christ. Although her M.S. in Organizational Psychology prepared her for teaching and leading groups, her M.A. in Theological Studies gave her the tools and foundation for researching, writing, and teaching God's Word. Over the years, Donna was privileged to encourage women's spiritual growth by writing and teaching Bible studies in small and large group settings and speaking at women’s conferences. Donna’s latest work, When Hope Comes: Discovering God's Character and Our True Identity Through the Book of Ruth, invites readers to explore Ruth’s story through the lens of its rich historical context. By doing so, we see how God honored the faithfulness, courage, and obedience of the story’s characters, foreshadowing his character and reflecting the identity He created them—and us—to bear. Just as Donna is passionate about writing, teaching, and mentoring the next generation of women, she is equally passionate about her growing family of one husband, four sons, three daughters-in-law, and three grandchildren. Donna loves taking long walks on the beach with her husband, weight training most mornings, playing with her grandchildren, and enjoying a good meal with family and friends. Donna’s greatest joy, however, is sharing with those around her what matters most: the One who changed her life forever, Jesus Christ, her Savior.
