Doug Katz is a partner with Wasserman/Katz, a management consulting firm founded in Washington, DC with offices currently in San Diego and Houston. For the past 35 years, the firm has advised managers on the most intelligent ways to steward their organizations and navigate their relationships with employees.
Wasserman/Katz (wassermankatz.com) furnishes services to a wide array of industries across the country… from biomedical research to ship building, from alternative energy exploration to public transit, from academia to waste management, from hospital administration to commercial sales.
In addition to his consulting work from California to DC, Doug is often retained to facilitate meetings and conferences addressing especially controversial issues affecting an organization or community. He delivers presentations and authors client advisories on a full range of contemporary management topics and has been involved in a 15 year study of national labor and employment trends to help his clients prepare for emerging workforce challenges. He was a guest instructor on Business Ethics in the University of Maryland’s Honors Program from 2002–2006 and has served on the Boards of The Grauer School, the Pretrial Justice Institute, IDC Marketing, Inc., Red Shark Technology, and The Woolly Mammoth Theater Company.
JamArtz (jamartz.com) is a branding and communication design studio, an outgrowth of Wasserman/Katz that Doug launched in 1990. Having grown up in a New York City advertising family, and having worked as a fashion and product photographer in a New York agency, JamArtz allowed Doug to use his commercial illustration, design, and copywriting skills to serve the needs of some of Wasserman/Katz’s clients. The studio now stands on its own, creating identity systems, poster art and signage, marketing copy and collateral, and fundraising communications for local, regional and national clients.
Doug earned Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in Clinical Psychology from The American University in Washington, DC. He was awarded an NIMH Clinical Training Fellowship and an NIMH Research Assistantship. He completed a clinical internship, upon graduation served as an editorial consultant with a publisher of academic texts, and soon after cofounded Wasserman/Katz.
