The author was born in country NSW, Australia. She attended boarding school from age nine. At ten years of age, she wrote a play and auditioned children from her neighbourhood for it. She promoted and, during the summer holidays, directed and produced her first concert to raise money for her Abbotsleigh Junior School Library. The Trust Fund set up for this operated for decades. She was destined to be entrepreneurial. She has been successful in business development, fundraising, art, and now writing. In the 1980's she was a popular social writer for a page called "Chit Chat" for the Daily Liberal, owned by Macquarie Publications. She also became a freelance writer for social and environmental issues.
In the mid 1980’s she worked for two years as a volunteer news reader for the local Chatswood Community Radio Station. She enjoyed this phase of her journalistic life, researching and gathering news then going live on the radio. She was admired for her approach to the world and its problematic dilemmas. At the end of her stint, she recalls how she preferred to give the good news rather than the alternative. She had many community phone calls congratulating her on her finesse and logic.
She joined “Dial-a-Mum” Community volunteer phone work. She was trained and felt it was an ominous job; the challenges were great. She recalls the suicidal people, sad so sad, and the professional assistance material she was able to offer them. It was a gloomy time but a powerful experience!
In the mid 1990’s she commenced her own marketing and business development company, GA Marketing 4U. This was a successful adventure. She had two clients. The first, a computer-based company was given the riot act and did not follow her instructions for re-branding; she then sacked them. The second was a medico-legal company drowning in its own boredom. She produced a strategy of re-branding and development plans which rocketed the company into a roaring success within a year. The CEO was flabbergasted, and she was contracted for three years. She left because she felt there was nothing more for her to provide. With her contracted job completed she retired. The business continued onwards for many years without any assistance until they employed another person who never climaxed.
In the early 2000’s she wrote many essays on her life. She never sought to publish. She remarried an artist and became an Art Director and Manager for his work.
She joined the AGNSW as a volunteer and ended up being a Patron and a Member of the Foundation. She became a parishioner of St Marks Anglian Church. She joined the choir, became a welcomer, Bible reader and prayer leader. She joined connect groups, and recently also joined the gardening group. She was swimming!
She travelled the world yearly. She remarried again and travelled to the USA, England and Switzerland where she would find her heart and soul connections favourable. This has remained her domain until covid-19 came along and wrecked her life-style, but not her relationships. Now in 2022, as the world is becoming accustomed to living with the pandemic, she is again reconnecting with her previous world. 2023 is another amazing year!
From 2012 to 2019 she painted in her USA Magnolia Art Studio. She attended the auction houses of the world and formulated from these yearly experiences a complexity of ideas of creativity. She claims to be her own mistress, being led purely by God’s infinite direction. She says: “The brilliant Art Masters of the world are in the eye of the beholder!” To view her art, please go to www.gretaarchbold.com. These days she would add she is still her own mistress, but as a writer and now a published author, her success is in the eye of the reader!”
During this period, she also wrote for a USA Christian Newsletter. She reported on the community and social behaviours. Her work seemed to attach itself to motivational outcomes. Her diligent involvement as a volunteer for MSO, MMA and St Andrews Cathedral were appreciated within the community. From a distance she maintains her USA connections.
In 2017, still in the USA, she was granted a Doctorate. It is the same Doctorate as granted to Dr. Billy Graham.
Throughout her life she has been a prominent figure in fund raising for various charitable organisations such as Save the Children Fund, The Red Cross and The Asthma Foundation.
In 2020 her short story of "Church on a Death Ship" was published four times., including Eternity News magazine. The readers of the short story encouraged her to format the inspirational survival story into a book. In 2021 she published her first book of the same name, "Church on a Death Ship", a memoir. This was a life-long dream come true. It has drawn interest for its survival techniques, as well as its religious, inspirational and humane content. There are moments in the book where she shows her quirky sense of humour which also brands her respect.
She recently published 3 religious books. "My Prayer Book", "The Power of Prayer" and "Conversations on Eternity and Art" which are on Amazon.com and Kindle.
She has also written her first gritty novel, "An Entangled Life" which took a year to complete. She says this was her greatest extension of herself. She recently published her 6th book, "Love and Wonder" a novel about love in the face of danger.
Life's necessity is faith, hope and love! She has found laughing at the negatives is smart. "Laugh yourself smarter quicker!" Humour assists all challenges today. Her discipline gives her courage to write about what she thinks is important.
She is a woman who values working with the community and has contributed through volunteering in the arts and church life for decades.
She has four daughters and seven grandchildren, one whom has already become an author.
