Professor May Ng, OBE PhD MBA LLM MSc MBBS (Hons) FHEA SFFMLM FRCPCH is an HonoraryProfessor and a multi-award winning Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist. She completed her undergraduate degree under full scholarship in University of Sydney, Australia. She was recipient of the UK Medical Research Council Fellowship and completed further training to obtain a Masters in Medical Science and PhD degree in paediatric endocrinology and diabetes. May Ng also holds a Master of Laws degree and is active in medico-legal work. She also has an MBA in Healthcare Finance. She is Chair of the UK Association of Children’s Diabetes Clinicians, Clinical Guidelines Officer for British Society of Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes and is the Research Officer and previous Training Advisor for Endocrinology and Diabetes for the UK Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health. She is in the Diabetes UK Council for Healthcare Professionals and is Chair of the E-Learning Committee for European Society of Paediatric Endocrinology. She also Chairs the UK National Institute Health Research (NIHR) Clinical Research Network for diabetes in children. She is an active researcher with over 200 publications and has presented at more than 300 scientific meetings. She serves on the editorial board for several international journals including as Editor-in-Chief and is a regular invited referee for many high impact journals. She has been an invited keynote speaker at many national and international conferences. She is book author of ‘A Journey with Brendan’ documenting life with her son with autism as both a mother and paediatrician and 'Me and My Hormones- What Can Go Wrong', a book which offers a jargon-free, comprehensive account of the underlying causes of hormone conditions that can affect all ages from birth to adulthood and help you understand how hormones can affect aspects of your health and body. Her 3rd book ' A Guide to Type 1 Diabetes Management, Technology and Everything Else You Need to Know' fills a gap and clears the fog around the complexities of emerging diabetes technology such as insulin pumps, closed-loop systems and continuous glucose monitoring. It also provides essential resources and advice to enable successful self-management of Type 1 Diabetes. It comprehensively covers information from the most basic to the most up to date, and can be used a reference guide- a ‘one stop shop’ for anyone living with Type 1 Diabetes, their carers and healthcare professionals.
