Dr. Sheila Owens-Collins, a seasoned pediatrician specialising in neonatology and a respected healthcare executive, brings a wealth of experience and compassion to her work. Her expertise lies in the critical care of newborns, a field that requires not just medical acumen but also a deep understanding of the emotional turmoil parents undergo. She is the author of the upcoming book, "A Parent's Guide to Type 1 Diabetes: Helping Your Child Manage the Highs and Lows," a testament to her commitment to empowering parents through knowledge and understanding. A native of Prairie View, Texas, home of Prairie View A & M University where her father taught Agriculture for many years, Dr. Owens-Collins has always been a fierce advocate for vulnerable populations. This advocacy extends from her professional life caring for critically ill premature babies to her personal mission to uphold the rights of the elderly. She believes strongly in every individual's right to live with dignity, security, respect, and peace of mind, and actively works towards this goal. When she isn't fighting for justice in healthcare or penning insightful guides for parents, Dr. Owens-Collins enjoys spending time with her two sons and bonus daughter. She currently resides in Rockville, MD, continuing her lifelong journey of service, advocacy, and learning.
