Dr. Wendy Johnson is clinician, public health expert, activist, and writer whose career includes stints scaling up HIV treatment in Mozambique, overseeing an urban public health department in Cleveland, Ohio, and directing a community clinic in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She currently practices family and addiction medicine, serving patients in rural Northern New Mexico for El Centro Family Health, and also consults with community clinics in Appalachian Ohio. As an assistant professor in both the University of Washington’s Global Health Department and the University of New Mexico Medical School’s Department of Family and Community Medicine, she teaches and mentors medical and public health students and residents. She grew up along the shores of Lake Erie in Buffalo, Cleveland, and Toledo and currently resides outside of Santa Fe in a community that includes two dogs, many human neighbors, a few bears, and countless coyotes and cottonwoods.
