Ellie J. Woods is a bestselling author of various children’s books including the ever popular “Goodnight, Swampy the Little Monster”. After attaining her degree in economics, Ellie pursued a writing career and channeled her inner childhood passion in fairy tales in making her own rhyming book, nursery rhymes for kids. Ellie’s core inspiration of her 5-year old daughter gave way to her focus on blending fun themes with real life lesson teaching on manners and values. Her favorite authors are Astrid Lindgren and J.K. Rowling who famously said one of Ellie’s favorite mottos: “It matters not what someone is born, but what they grow to be.”
Ellie’s approach to writing is to create a vibrant, colorful world for children so they can make good use of their imagination and spark creativity. The characters in Ellie’s bedtime books are always placed in situations where good manners for kids need to be developed in order to solve a problem. Parents and kids alike can relate to these situations to everyday life.
Swampy is just one of the several main characters that kids get so attached to. It is not just because he’s a cute furry monster but he’s like every other ages 3-5 year old kid who doesn’t want to go bed and would rather do fun activities than brush his teeth or take a bath.
Ellie also made a character named Rexy for her “Rexy the Dinosaur and a New Bike” book which instantly captivated parents. Raising a kid who isn’t very fond of sharing can be difficult but introducing Rexy to their children made a huge difference. Rexy effectively demonstrates how satisfying it can be to share things with others.
Owlet from Ellie’s more recent book “Say Please, Little Owlet” has a lesson of his own to learn. He quickly learns from his kind, patient and loving parents that it is a lot nicer to say “please” if you want to ask something. The way Owlet realizes the value of the magic word inspired readers everywhere to be as considerate as Owlet. This children’s book also highlights Ellie’s childhood passion for picture books as a coloring book is included as a free download.
Ellie also released a sleep book in time for Christmas entitled “Marty and Momo Make Bedtime Fun” featuring two main characters Marty and Momo. It is more of a role model book making it great for kids with older siblings who love rhyming monster books for kids. It shows how inspiring it can be to overcome fears, see beyond first impressions and share good bedtime habits with all members of the family.
All of Ellie’s books teach good morals wrapped in a catchy nursery rhyme presentation filled with colorful hand-drawn visuals making it really easy for young children to pick up. Being a mother of her own 5-year old daughter, Ellie wants to inspire parents more in the value of reading nursery rhymes before the usual bedtime routine.
"I hope my books will spark children's imagination and help them to learn values in a fascinating way. - Ellie J. Woods".
