Elynne Chaplik-Aleskow is a Pushcart Prize-nominated author of the book My Gift of Now, a collection of her short memoirs. My Gift of Now was named one of Cyrus Webb's Conversations Magazine's 25 Most Inspiring Books of 2015. My Gift of Now is a collection of memoirs and essays about tragic family loss through two plane crashes; finding love and marriage in middle age; travel and laughter; and issues of living the author sees as she looks around her. The reader will move from tears to laughter to empathy as the author tells her true stories of tragedy beyond comprehension happening twice in one family; of finding the needle in the haystack on a dance floor in her middle age years; of travel filled with laughter and unforgettable adventures. After two stellar careers, retirement brought a new career as an author published in over thirty anthologies and the freedom to focus on the gift of now. Elynne is also a contributing author in the anthologies listed on her Author Central page. She is proud to be part of the various editors' anthologies. Elynne Chaplik-Aleskow is a an award-winning educator and broadcaster. She is Founding General Manager of WYCC-TV/PBS and Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Wright College in Chicago. Her adult storyteller program IN HER OWN VOICE is renowned. Elynne's performances of her stories have been broadcast on The Bob Edwards Show on NPR, and Rick Kogan's Sunday Papers on WGN radio. She has recently returned from her performance in NYC at the new Museum of Motherhood. Elynne has performed her stories throughout Chicago including the Printer's Row Lit Fest. Her work has been part of the production "Dear Mother" in L.A. at The Lyric Theater. In April,2012 she performed her stories at the Acorn Theater in Three Oaks, Michigan.
