Ewart Hutton was born and raised in Scotland, moved south to university in Manchester, then on to various jobs in London, before settling in the Welsh Marches. Ewart has written many plays for radio, which have been produced for BBC Radio 4 in London and Cardiff, RTE in Dublin, and Radio Clyde in Glasgow. Many of these have won prizes and awards, including the Bronze Medal at the New York International Radio Festival, Third Prize in the Radio Times Comedy Script Awards, and he has been the Independent Radio entry for the Prix Italia. He has written two plays for the theatre, one of which has won the STV/Traverse Theatre Comedy Play Award, and the other was joint winner of the Warehouse Theatre International Playwriting Competition. He has now returned to his first love of writing novels, and has completed three, GOOD PEOPLE, DEAD PEOPLE and WILD PEOPLE set in Mid Wales, and featuring Welsh/Italian Detective Sergeant Glyn Capaldi. GOOD PEOPLE, the first book in the series, was shortlisted for the 2012 CWA John Creasey (New Blood) Dagger Award. the third book, WILD PEOPLE, has now been published. He is currently doing the groundwork for more Capaldi books. GOOD PEOPLE has been listed as one of the KIRKUS REVIEW'S Top Books of 2013. After spending three years in South West France, he has now moved to Bristol and is currently working on two new standalone novels.
