Iran is the Founder/President/CEO of the Peace Center of Connecticut. Incorporated in January 2017. He is responsible for overseeing the administration, programs and strategic plan of the organization.
Iran began his career as a volunteer in 1993 helping youth overcome their challenges, serving the community, and building networks that would help prevent violence throughout the City of Hartford, Connecticut and throughout the country all while battling his own challenges.
For over 25 years he has worked in the program management, gang prevention, youth outreach, engagement, and community support field. He is an expert in Gang Prevention and Mediation with a proven impact on the management of staff and programs.
His career has included leading programs at The Hartford Housing Authority, UCONN School of Social Work, Urban League of Greater Hartford, Mi Casa Family Services, Hispanic Health Council, The City of Hartford, Hartford Public Schools and COMPASS Youth Collaborative.
Working in partnership with the Hartford Police Department in June of 2015 Iran was “Badged” by the department to serve as a community/law enforcement partner. In this role Iran is to serve as an intermediary in city wide crisis situations under President Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper Initiative.
Iran is the recipient of numerous awards for his contribution to improving the lives of residents in the Hartford CT community and across the country.
He is a Peace advocate, trainer, motivational speaker, and consultant helping communities, organizations, institutions and schools improve their program and services and the impact those programs and services have on their clients, students, communities and stakeholders.
He continues his pursuit of Peace for the community where he grew up. His publications include a co-authored poetry book Bullets into Bells describing the impact of gung violence on individuals across the state of Connecticut and his memoir Rage to Peace that hopes to inspire readers to embrace positive change in their lives.
