J. Martin is a counterculture enthusiast, history buff, and engineer. Born and raised in Florida, he left his hometown for Southern France, where he spent 16 years living the life of a bohemian, commune-dwelling, radical, profligate scion of a new-age mystic wannabe historian mother. He is a cross between his two dads. One a delusional hyperfundamentalist survivalist Christian, and the other an ambitionless and passive Quantum Physicist. He is the quintessential millennial. Opinionated and Lazy. Sentimental. Not brave enough to be savage, nor experienced enough to be wise. Utterly convinced he’s right about everything he’s not smart enough to discredit. The avatar of a molten and amorphous intellect cast in the haphazard ideologies of the 90s. He is too smart for his own good and too dumb for anyone else’s. For him, the only stories worth writing are the ones no one else would write, even if they could. Driven by questions of essential nature, predetermination, and the integration of the shadow self, his fiction circles the drain of the intellectual and moral bankruptcy of the West. It is character driven and anachronistic. Filled with 19th-century pretensions and obscurities, and it is updated for a more modern audience by taking a very long time to say the crudest things. His work is filled with secular indecencies and sacred atrocities, and all glibly presented with tongue planted firmly in cheek.
