J. Michael Spaur was born February 4th, 1980, in Roane County, West Virginia and spent his first few years in the surrounding area. His family later relocated to Craven County, North Carolina, where he would spend the better part of twenty years. A trained chef at the age of 19, Mr. Spaur adores spending time in his kitchen and sharing a meal with both old and new friends alike.
Early on in life, he was drawn to the legends & culture of the Native American peoples and immersed himself in hours upon hours of dedicated study and research into the topics. Being born into a multi-cultural, Appalachian family, Mr. Spaur learned early on to appreciate the simpler comforts of life and to respect all living creatures, no matter what.
Mr. Spaur began exploring the adventure of writing in Craven County, North Carolina, proofreading articles, assisting with distribution and even drawing a few political themed cartoons, while working with the Vanceboro Voice Newspaper, which was originally founded and operated by his longtime friend and mentor, Mr. Art Manning, III & his wife Mrs Ruth Manning. In 2008, Mr. Spaur returned to West Virginia and settled in Braxton County. 2011 would find Mr. Spaur once more returning to Craven County North Carolina, where in the spring of 2012 he would eventually settle in the rural community of Ernul.
When asked his favorite work... he simply answers "The one I'm writing now..."
