Hi, I'm Jack Hicks a voice artist in the United States. I've been a radio announcer since 1975 and have worked ever since. I've been blessed to work with some very talented voice artists over the years, including Tom Barnard and Mei Young.
Twenty-five years ago I was the Midday/Afternoon announcer at KQRS, Minneapolis. That station was number one in the ratings and it was my dream job. Then I got laryngitis and lost my job. After commiserating for about a month, I decided to dedicate my life to learning everything I could about the human voice; how to use it properly and how to protect it from damage.
I've studied with some of the best voice teachers and voice over coaches on the planet. I've been blessed with a lot of wonderful jobs. Clients include: UPS, Hampton Inn Hotels, Pioneer/Dupont, Estee Lauder, T.D. Ameritrade, Sears, McDonalds and many others.
I often get asked for advice from aspiring voice over actors and artists. People were so good to me when I got started that I decided I would help anyone who asked. That's what led me to write the short book: "99 Tips for Voice Over Excellence." It doesn't contain everything, of course, but if I were having lunch with someone and they wanted me to help them get started, these are many of the things I would tell them. They are "off the cuff" and I'm sure will help anyone with their career.
Best wishes to you and check out my website at www.jackhicks-voice.com.
