James Scott Flannery was born into a family of film and music lovers in the town of Carbondale, Pennsylvania, located 16 miles north of Scranton. His uncle was a projectionist in all the local film houses, where he often took James and his siblings to see all the great films. He eventually built a theater in his own house, complete with seating, poster displays and a box office, where he would show 16mm prints of classic films. Both of James' parents encouraged his love of art, music and movies. In 2001, James wrote his first work, an award-winning commercial for a contest sponsored by Tommy Hilfiger. In 2005, he made the first of two feature films, and later went on to act in local theater for several years. The Price of Distraction is James' first book, written in 2023. He currently resides just outside of Scranton, with his son Dylan and their cat, Elsa, and enjoys playing guitar and piano.
