Growing up with a father in the army put Jane Kemp in many bases throughout the world. Never knowing how long she’d have at a particular location made developing lasting relationships difficult, and by the time she was a teenager, she tended to associate with the “wrong kinds of kids.” About that time, she began journaling darker fantasies, horror, and more. When she turned eighteen, she was eager to leave home and find somewhere to start a permanent life, so she went to a state university and supported herself waiting tables.
In college, she shared some of her writing with a professor in a creative writing class, and she encouraged her to develop it further, telling Kemp her writing wasn’t just confused ramblings from a troubled teen but actually had excellent plot development and creative possibilities. So, Kemp wrote, wrote, and wrote some more. Though she’d calmed down in terms of associations, she still tended to write darker fiction, and it wasn’t long before she’d amassed a following writing sexually charged stories for a student run underground paper.
Her writing is still dark and taboo driven. "I love to write about my far out fantasies and share them with my readers. I love to keep you wondering—is this real? Is it fake? Does she want it? Is she hurt? Is she happy? Most of what I write is on the darker side but in the end, everyone is happy. That’s not what happens when I write horror, but when sex is involved, look for a happy ending."
