Jane L. King is “Mid-Atlantic,” having lived half of her life in Europe—mostly in England, but also, in Germany—and half in the U.S. She was born in England, and considers this to be the home of her heart. She now lives in New Hampshire in the United States and works as a full-time faculty member with the University of Phoenix. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English and a juris doctor degree in law from the University of Illinois. She is a retired business lawyer, having gained licenses to practice law in four states in the United States, and in England and Wales. Jane has written numerous articles, books, and book chapters on the law.
Jane is a huge cat lover and has turned her skill in writing and her love of cats into a project developed in 2016: The Ten Lives of Hector, The Cat—a time-traveling cat series. Her original idea for this series was to use the proverb that “cats have nine lives” as the basis for a cat who time travels, and who, in nine adventures, loses his nine lives. Jane has written five books so far in the series, in which Hector has traveled to Ancient Egypt, Mars (Catopia), and New England in the United States, and into the Sargasso Sea, and to the North Pole. In each of these stories, Hector lost one of his nine lives. He has four left. After Hector loses all of his nine lives, he will no longer be able to take risky adventures, and will only be able to live a more normal life for a retired cat adventurer. This will be his tenth life!
