Janet Paige Smith is a 2012 Guideposts Writers Workshop winner and has written articles about marriage and families for Guideposts Magazine, Angels on Earth Magazine, and an anthology, Thin Places. Janet received her bachelor degree in social work from the University of Georgia, a master’s degree in education from Georgia Southern University and a specialist in education degree from Georgia College and State University. Janet has taught in the public school system for over 25 years and three years with the Department of Defense School System in Japan. Prior to becoming a school teacher, she served twelve years as a military officer. Janet is an advocate for families and speaks at women’s conferences on God’s design for marriage and how divorce affects children in the classroom. She is the mother of three young men, two who served in Iraq and mother-in-law to Avery Curtis Smith. Janet and her husband Mark, are new empty nesters and both retired from school teaching in 2020.
