Jerold Daniels became lonely when the young women he loved and cared for were taken away by mental illness, to say nothing of how their disorders affected their lives and happiness. Eventually they came to acknowledge there’s something wrong in their mind, but not that their memories or feelings are wrong. It humbles the author to know that the women to whom he once dedicated his life came to hate him in return.
