Jerry Prout teaches political science at the Marquette University Les Aspin Center (Washington D.C.) following a 40 year career as a corporate public affairs executive for FMC Corporation. He is author of Coxey's Crusade for Jobs (2016) and Chasing Automation (2022). He has also authored articles on the Gilded Age, late 19th century populism, the tumult of the sixties, and corporate responsibility. Prout has a PhD in history from George Mason University and graduate degrees from Duke University (M.A. History) and American University (M.A. Political Science). He is a graduate of Westminster College (MO). He and his wife have four sons and twelve grandchildren.
