Joe Grutzik combines his crazy life experience with cutting edge cognitive science to create exciting, insightful, and provocative non-fiction about families and fatherhood. Joe spent ten seasons skiing full time at resorts in the US and Europe, sailed racing yachts crossing both the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean, and hitchhiked more than 27,000 miles. He has met four US presidents, chatted with former chiefs of the Federal Reserve, sailed with billionaires, partied with rock stars and skied with celebrities. After ten years of adventures Joe married his high school sweetheart, settled down and went back to school to earn an engineering degree. He pursued his interest in cognitive science hosting seminars featuring distinguished scientists, including Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett, Steven Wolfram, Christopher Hitchens, Charles Murray, Ray Kurzweil, Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, Michio Kaku and Jared Diamond. Joe retired early to be a full-time stay-at-home dad. Now he leverages his hard-earned firsthand knowledge of adventure, raising children, engineering and cognitive science to weave his tales. He lives in San Francisco with his brilliant and beautiful wife, writing full time in several genres, focusing on the common themes of adventure, human consciousness, and fatherhood.
