John Allen Thornton has a varied background. He was an ICU Registered Nurse for 10 years. He also has been a patient with significant arthritis and multiple joint replacements. He also has worked as a pastor with people in their physical, emotional, and spiritual lives visiting the sick, needy, hurting, elderly, and those who have suffered traumas of various sorts. In the summer of 2021 John Allen Thornton put out the Wondrous Electric Elephant, a story for children. It is a fun read and perfect for parents and grandparents to read to children. Or, you can listen as a family to the superb audiobook version narrated by the fantastic Katrina Medina. Pinkie Promise, is a fun romantic comedy novel which is set in 1974 and 1988. This book is out as an audiobook as well, and is nicely done. Check it out! In May 2018, John Thornton wrote a biography/memoir of his father, L. A. "Slim" Thornton who was a very successful home builder and contractor in Omaha, Nebraska from the 1940s into the 1980s. The Slim Thornton Story is filled with photos, stories, jokes, and poignant, sometimes painful memories. The book chronicles the rise and fall of a very interesting man. John's only sibling, Kay, died on January 4, 2015 and that prompted his writing of the book, "Oh God. It Hurts!"
