I was born in Pittsburgh, PA in 1943. I grew up in the little Borough of Ben Avon along the Ohio River. I loved sports, especially baseball, basketball and golf. I played little league, pony league, and high school baseball. I played basketball through Jr-high, high school, 2 years of college, and 2 years in the Army. I also liked dancing and, with my dancing partner, won several contests. I like music and can play jazz piano, but I only play for relaxation. I am a born-again Christian who felt led to write about 40 of the over 50 miracles in my life. Back in my first day of Kindergarten Sunday school class, while hanging up my coat, these words came to my mind: Jesus Christ is God. I have no idea where that came from. From then to about the age of 13, I was called the deacon because I wouldn’t swear. One day a friend, who knew I loved baseball, called to invite me to a Pittsburgh Pirates baseball game. However, he said I had to swear first. I reluctantly declined. The next day he called back and asked if I had memorized the Apostle’s Creed for our Presbyterian church Confirmation Class the next Sunday. I recited it perfectly for him to a point. When I said, He descended into hell, my friend cut me off and said, Okay you can go to the baseball game. Unfortunately, I took the Lord’s name in vain later in the summer, and on a golf course, of all places. My spiritual life gradually fell away over the years after that. After the Service and College, I became a school teacher. I had become a heavy smoker and a weekend drinker over the first few years. But, one day, I had no desire to do either. It’s been that way for the last 45 years. Somehow, God drew me through several miracles that led me to receive Christ. My kids had gone to a church with the neighbor kids one Sunday while I was sleeping one off. While hearing an evangelist in an evening service, the words came through my mind again, Jesus Christ is God. My life changed after that night. One day, I asked my kids if they would like to ask Jesus into their hearts. My 7-year old said that they already did that and then prayed for me to quit smoking and drinking. This was about 2 months after their prayer. All adults should have the faith of little children. I’m now a 76 year old Adult Sunday school class teacher and have been asked to speak in several churches about the Importance of Miracles in a Christian’s Life. This ministry came out of my book, God’s Hole-In-One and Other miracles. I encourage people to read it. It has been a help to many who have read it, especially those who were afraid of these chaotic times. I know you will enjoy it, as my reviews have shown. Blessings, John W. Corfield
