Jon Binder is a UX Design Team Leader and Operations Manager working in Baltimore, Maryland with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. His writings explore topics related to user experience research and design, behavioral economics, cognitive heuristics and mental models, game theory in decision making, and the ways in which new technologies disrupt industries and societies. Jon holds degrees from Iowa State University, the University of Findlay, and MIT in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), International Business, Economics, Technology Operations and Value Chain Management. Jon lives with his wife, Emily and 3 children in Pasadena, Maryland. He enjoys running, riding dirt bikes and traveling with family. Jon currently lives in a fully restored farmhouse that was originally built in 1840 on a historic 5-acre homestead called Annapolis Pines. In 2020 Emily began transforming the property into a sustainable, no-kill farm that produces free range eggs, herbs and a variety of organic fruits and vegetables.
