Karlee Holden is from Los Gatos, Ca. After graduating from UC Berkeley she moved to LA, where she worked in production, trained in acting schools, and starred in national commercials. Karlee was immediately faced with rich and famous people, who were depressed and suicidal, asking her how to be happy. Since growing up in a spiritual family, Karlee had a lot of teaching on yoga, meditation, and being spiritually connected, as well as having self-love and self-worth. As Karlee was practicing these principals herself, she would talk to others about them, and was hired as a coach to go to people’s homes and teach them yoga, meditation, and how to be happy. Karlee began writing in her teens about these topics of life, people, and spirituality, penning down what came to her in her quiet times of meditation and contemplation. Her books are these writings. As Karlee grew on her path, she was faced with even more difficulties that took pain and problems to another level. She was forced to face the realization that she did grow up with trauma (despite it being hidden behind a loving spiritual family), and that she encountered further traumatic events in her adult life. She explains in her Can You Please Talk To My Trauma? book how all trauma starts from childhood patterns of what we learn, and that what isn’t resolved continues to show up more in other relationships and events. Not many people really understand how, despite appearances, they are raised with unhealthy emotions and patterns from their parents; this is trauma. As Karlee was faced with an avalanche of traumatic events and losses, she dug deeper into her trainings and therapies so she could overcome these problems that kept occurring. She became a qualified trauma practitioner, helping herself overcome her own traumas, and has helped others overcome their traumas for the last twenty years. Her Can You Please Talk To My™ book series is about these journeys, and the wisdom she learned along the way. Her hope is to share all she learned that helped her and others overcome stress and trauma symptoms (lack of boundaries, anxiety, depression, suicidal, etc.), without the use of (and subsequent reliance upon) medication. Doctors continue to treat people’s mental and emotional health with medication, burying the pain, rather than releasing the pain and getting the traumatic adrenaline out of the body and mind. Karlee, however, uses PhD. Peter Levine’s work, Somatic Experiencing, which has saved so many people’s lives with amazing results in overcoming painful patterns, stress, and trauma. Karlee started Peace Out Stress (peaceoutstress.com) a nonprofit organization to make tools and resources available immediately, and to get people the help they need.
