'Field Murder' is my latest book, and the first in the Yvonne Parker series. Set in Shaftesbury, Dorset, with places and people you may recognise, a horse riding antiques dealer discovers a body in a sheep field - people ask me if my books are autobiographical, and the answer is 'No!'. Yes I am a horse rider, and yes I deal in antiques, but I have yet to find a body anywhere, thank goodness. I love writing stories to entertain my friends and family, and the Woodford Mystery series has a strong following of readers who enjoy the tales of the people of the fictional town of Woodford, in the county of Brackenshire, with its running club, auction house, Zumba classes, cafe and pub. The equestrian theme runs throughout, as does a peek into the antiques world. Here is what Julie Carter of 'Antiques & Collectables For Profit and Pleasure' magazine had to say about Book 1, 'The Limner's Art': 'Editorial, by Julie Carter And speaking of books, on our Books In Review page there’s a review on The Limner’s Art, which is a fictional tale of some antique dealers in a small English village. When I wrote the review, I still had about 50 pages of the book to go and I can now report the ending is excellent! I think it might be the days of Lovejoy since anyone with an interest in antiques has been able to find a good book that combines a great story with the antiques world, but author Kathy Morgan has done just that. Luckily for us she’s writing a series and the second book has just been released. So keep an eye out for The Limner’s Art, which is the first book in the series, and its sequel, The Bronze Lady. They’re great reading. The Limner’s Art Author: Kathy Morgan I’m a prolific reader and I always have a couple of books on the go, split fairly evenly between fiction and non-fiction to suit my mood. So when I received an email from a self-published author in the UK who told me she knew my cousin on Portobello Road, and that she’d written a fictional tale about an antiques dealer and would I review it, I was fifty-fifty about whether I was pleased or not. On the one hand, the idea of a well written story starring an antiques dealer was very appealing, but on the other – what if it wasn’t well written? What would I say? Well it turns out I didn’t need to worry. The Limner’s Art is a great story, well written and incredibly readable. At the time of writing this review I have about 50 pages left to read and I can’t wait to put this magazine to bed so I can sit down and finish it. I’m hooked. {} For lovers of antiques, it’s the perfect fiction. Both author Kathy Morgan and her partner are antiques dealers, so her observations of the trade are spot on. But it’s not all about antiques; it’s also a really interesting story. For a debut novel, it’s incredibly impressive. Kathy has already released the second book in what has now become the Woodford Antiques Mystery series, so hopefully we’ll have plenty more books to enjoy from her in the future. Meanwhile, go online and buy The Limner’s Art. You’ll love it.' The Limner's Art was my first book, and I have now added The Bronze Lady, Death By Etui, The Mystery of the Silver Salver, and Deadly Philately to the series. I have also written a standalone antiques mystery novel 'Silver Betrayal', and a children's book featuring my cat 'Snowflake, The Cat Who Was Afraid of Heights.' Why not curl up with one of my books this Winter? Kathy xx
