Kenneth Bromberg grew up in the beach cities of Southern California with a passion for history, literature, and tennis. He attended UCLA, after which he worked as a bartender, listening carefully to customers who had left behind checkered pasts to reinvent themselves as soap opera stars, real estate agents, and even police officers. He later returned to school to earn an MBA and become a certified public accountant. After retirement, Bromberg fulfilled a lifelong dream of becoming a writer. His first novel, American Dreams, is based on stories his grandmother told of her harrowing journey from persecution in Czarist Russia to her new home in New York City. The story moves from the brutality of Eastern Europe to young gangsters in lower Manhattan, to the beaches and movie sets of Southern California. His second novel, City of Angels, derives from his lifelong fascination with the corrupt and colorful history of Los Angeles, the city of his birth. It’s a noir detective story set in 1920s L.A., whose protagonist must navigate ruthless oil men, greedy movie moguls and the unethical Los Angeles Police Department in order to solve the murder of a beautiful young woman and the horrible brutality visited upon Chinese immigrants. Bromberg lives in Santa Monica, California, with his wife, Carol, close to their grown sons. He is currently working on his third novel.
