I was born and raised in a big city, but spent most of my summers in a small, dry, dusty town in the middle of nowhere. I was often alone, so I had to invent stories and characters to pass the time. I can't go anywhere without observing the people and what makes the place special, and I try to use those observations in what I write. I don't want to be controversial. I don't want to make people question themselves. I just want to tell a good story, and if I can do that, it's a good day.
