I've always felt like a side character, easily forgotten in the hustle-and-bustle of other peoples' lives, but recently, call it the changing tide or a mental shift, this story is starting to feel like my own. Once, I read to escape. Fantasy stole my heart at a young age and I turned my hand to writing (in secret) to one day gift a book of my own making to my parents. And on Christmas Day 2021, they unwrapped 400 bound pages with my name printed on the cover. To say they were shocked is an understatement; almost as shocked as when I announced I'd be moving to London, 3 hours from home, to really give this protagonist thing a go.
I write stories for the underdogs. The dark horses who rise up against all odds. The side characters with big dreams.
I no longer read to escape; I write to help others feel included.
