LaToya D. Thomas is a children's book author who was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She currently lives in Montgomery County, PA with her three children. LaToya graduated from Bellevue University with a 4.0 GPA. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Behavioral Science, and has also earned a degree in Early Childhood Education. For most of LaToya’s adult life she has worked with children and families, so it was no surprise when she began a second career in writing children’s literature.
Her debut book, “You Are Beautiful, Beautiful You Are,” is the first in The Self Love and Encouragement Series. The second and third books in the series, "Braver than you Know" (released June 15, 2019), and "Happiness is a Choice" (released April 24, 2020) are also available worldwide. In this series, LaToya seeks to promote self-love, acceptance, positive self-talk and confidence building in children and adults alike.
In addition to The Self Love and Encouragement Series, LaToya has designed a series of journals for creative writing, to-do lists or simply... "journaling."
Last year, LaToya launched a series of activity books for children. "Word Search for Kids Levels 1-4" released in May 2020. These Word Search books range from the beginner level for the child with limited or no experience with word search puzzles to the expert level which is for the child, or even an adult, who enjoys more of a challenge.
Most recently, LaToya collaborated with Author Ollie Wheeler to write the Jaden Parker series. Jaden Parker is a young boy who navigates through real life experience and emotions as his family moves to the new town of Cuddlesburg. This move brings about a lot of new changes for Jaden. He will need to make new friends, visit new places, go to a new school, and even visit a new doctor, which gives him the heebie-jeebies by the way. Well, if that isn't enough, Jaden is also about to become a big brother. These books should be on every child's "Must Read" list.
When she isn’t working or writing, LaToya can be found researching current events related to psychology, sociology and human services. For leisure, she mostly reads nonfiction. LaToya loves swimming, shopping, and creating vegetarian and/or vegan dishes. In the future, she hopes to serve as an inspiration to others both through her writing and in the real world by volunteering in the community helping children and families in need.
