Larry Mazzotti was born in Springfield, Illinois in 1960, graduated from Springfield Southeast High School in 1978 and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in Ceramic Engineering from the University of Illinois in Urbana - Champaign in 1982. He worked for IBM in Endicott New York as a engineer from 1982 - 1986 then transferred to Decatur, Illinois to become an IBM marketing representative for local large manufacturing companies including ADM and Caterpillar. After a corporate downsizing in 1993, he began working as an IT consultant to assist local small businesses with their computer and networking needs. In 1994, he and his wife, Joyce, started a home-based embroidery and custom logo business. He continues to work from the home office. Joyce was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1998 and Larry was diagnosed with leukemia in 2009. Joyce had to endure chemotherapy and surgeries from 1998 - 2005 and Larry went through multiple rounds of chemotherapy and an allogenic stem-cell transplant in 2013. Both are now cancer free and are providing help and support to other survivors.
