Pokin was born in Illinois and had a passion for storytelling from a young age. Obtaining an internship at a radio station when she was fifteen, Pokin worked her way to a paid position as a board operator at age 18 until she relocated to Colorado to attend the Colorado Film School. Pokin is a graduate from the University of Colorado at Denver, with a B.F.A in writing and has a certificate in writing/directing from the Colorado Film School. She received awards in the independent film community for her short films and published her first novel (Dear Aunt Catherine) in 2017 and a short story 'The Strange Abduction of Freddy Heddy Hardcrumble Part I: Freddy' in 2023.
Pokin resides in Littleton, Colorado with her dog, where she continues to write.
